Fortnite Save the World Finally Ends Early Access

Fortnite's trajectory has been a truly interesting slice of video game history, launching its "Early Access Season" in July 2017, not exactly setting the world ablaze, but in September Epic released the "PUBG"-inspired "Fortnite Battle Royale" Until they unleashed it on the world, well, everything changed. The ostensibly new mode (remember when it was just a "mode"?) quickly took over the entire show, and now while Fortnite Battle Royale is the "real" Fortnite, the originally envisioned game has branched into Fortnite: Save the World It branched out into.

Over the next few years, while "Fortnite" gradually grew in size and influence, "Save the World" also followed its own path of Early Access development. Now, it is finally complete.

"Today, we have decided to release "Save the World" from Early Access and keep it alive as a premium experience rather than free-to-play. After this official release, development of new content will slow down, but the adventure of Save the World will not end here," Epic announced.

"All paid Founders will have their Founder's Packs upgraded to the next level, unlocking all perks included in the upgraded packs for free! Ultimate Edition owners will receive a new Metal Team Leader Pack and 8,000 V-Bucks.

New perks will also be added to "Save the World" to liven up Fortnite: "Save the World" will also include a new feature called "Ventures" that will offer "continuous progression and fresh season level increases."

Ventures rollout will see the game transition to an "annually recurring season schedule," with existing in-game events such as Frostnite and Dungeons continuing on their own seasonal rotations, separate from Battle Royale.

"As you conquer Ventures challenges, you earn seasonal experience that affects the difficulty level you encounter, the weapons you discover, and the seasonal rewards you earn," Epic states.

"As you increase your Ventures level per season, you unlock Supercharger materials that allow you to increase the level of items in your main collection beyond their current limits.

The development delay means that Save the World will no longer support all Fortnite Battle Royale cosmetics going forward, but existing cosmetics will continue to work in both modes. However, the cosmetic content of the new Metal Team Leader Pack, which will be released on Thursday, will be shared between Save the World, Battle Royale, and Creative.

"The main storyline in Save the World is complete, but there are still adventures to be had: continue fighting Husks in Twine Peaks, take on each seasonal event in Save the World, or complete each Venture season to advance your collection! ...... The choice is yours," said Epic. We hope that Save the World and the upcoming Ventures update will inspire you to continue your adventures and share your stories."
