Hacked Roblox account tells people to vote for Trump

Roblox has become an unexpected target of pro-Trump propaganda. The White House is in the midst of another contentious battle this year, but even a game played primarily by children under the age of 16 cannot escape the impending U.S. election. [The BBC has discovered that Roblox accounts have been hacked and turned into Trump bots, sending pro-Trump messages to other players. Trump's candyfloss hair, bright orange skin, and love of McDonald's may be attractive to children, but since children cannot vote, the message tells them to listen to their parents instead.

Whoever is responsible has gone the extra mile by dressing the character in a red hat reminiscent of a MAGA cap, an eagle and US flag t-shirt, and a hacked red, white, and blue color scheme. Profiles are also edited with slogans, and a search of profiles with "Ask your parents to vote for Trump this year!" brings up a huge list of profiles.

Some players have posted messages sent by Trumpbots and screenshots of Trumpified characters on Twitter. The messages include links to scam sites as well as telling parents to vote for Trump.

This has been going on for the last week and the problem continues. Even if no parent changes their vote based on what their child hears on Roblox, targeting children with propaganda about Trump or any politician is quite problematic.

Not related, but there are also an odd number of Trump-themed Roblox accounts on Twitter.

Cheers, Eurogamer.
