Sales of "Dead Cells" exceed 3 million; 19th update now available.

Dead Cells is pretty good. We called it the best roguelike of 2018, and when Tom returned to this game this year for the Bad Seed DLC, he found it to be even more original and surprising. And that seems to be reflected in the fact that many of you picked up this game as it surpassed 3 million sales.

This milestone comes with a massive amount of updates that were initially intended to be mere balance patches; Motion Twin has been tinkering with everything from the economy to the difficulty curve.

Several items have also been revamped, most notably the crossbow, which is now two-handed and can attack twice. The speed is slower, but there is no need to make it faster, as there is enough health pool for a survival build.

The changes to the economy and difficulty curve should make it less likely that you will get tripped up on your next run. For economy, the goal is to make pricing easier to understand and make it harder to empty your bank balance by shopping at higher difficulty levels. Meanwhile, the difficulty curve should be smoother and less likely to catch you off guard.

Scrolls have also been removed from ++ and S weapons to better account for gear level, but to compensate, more scrolls can now be found in the early biomes, enemy damage has been reduced, and gear damage has been increased.

A full list of changes, including re-worked damage mutations, all item adjustments, and some quality of life improvements can be found in the patch notes. Or you can jump into the game and be amazed.
