Ubisoft postpones the release of "The Settlers" again.

"The Settlers" will probably be back, but it's less clear when exactly that will be. The revived strategy management series was unveiled in 2018 and was scheduled to launch this year, but today the Ubisoft Blue Bytes team announced an indefinite delay.

Originally slated for fall 2019, last year it was ambiguously set for 2020. Since then, Blue Byte has posted many updates explaining how the various buildings and systems work, accompanied by many screenshots, but it looks like they will have to live with it for a little while longer.

"Quality is our top priority and we want to take the time we need to get things right. 'That's why we had to make the difficult decision to delay the release of the game. The additional time will be used to address your feedback and deliver the best 'The Settlers' game possible."

"The Settlers" allows players to construct the most buildings in the series, take advantage of new population mechanisms, send their heroes into the arena for glory, and inspire settlers with a new faith system. As the name suggests, Ubisoft considers this title a reboot, but from what we have seen over the past few years, it does not appear to deviate much from the classic formula.

Hopefully it will get off the ground. It's been 10 years since Anno's The Settlers 7, and while it scratches the same itch, it tends to be more economical and a little less action-packed. There's nothing wrong with more management games.
