Star Wars: Squadrons" offers customizable HUD, controls, and cosmetic displays

Among the early images of "Star Wars: Squadrons", it was an interior shot of the X-wing cockpit that immediately caught my eye. Not that I have anything against amulets: ...... Really? Creative Director Ian S. Frazier told IGN Japan that players who don't want to see such trivialities in a very serious "Star Wars" film can turn them all off

.

"Some players may not want to see such things. No matter how plausible it is, they just want to keep it to what they have seen in the film, nothing more, nothing less. 'So there's an option in the game to hide everyone's cosmetics. If you turn this option on, all of a sudden you want to put a racing stripe or something on your TIE fighter, you can see it, but everyone else's will just look like a regular TIE fighter."

Several gameplay systems will also be customizable. For example, in-flight data is usually displayed on the HUD, but pilots who want a more immersive experience can turn off the HUD altogether and instead rely solely on the cockpit display. (Personally, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a hyperspace-capable Starfighter to have a functional HUD, but I still get excited when I see a TIE fighter flying through the atmosphere, so maybe I'm not cut out for this sort of thing)

A power management system that allows the player to adjust the energy levels of engines, weapons, and shields could be adjusted in a similar fashion, similar to the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter games.

"By default, the system is relatively basic. You press a button and the designated system is instantly maxed out," Frazier says. 'More advanced players can turn it into advanced power management, where they can individually manage power pips from one system to another. But that's not the experience we give the average new user.

It may be a bit ironic that the TIE Interceptor will have a bobble-headed dash rider on board, but since Electronic Arts has previously promised full support for HOTAS, we have to admit that this looks promising.Star Wars:. Squadrons will be released on October 2 and could be the game that proves that EA finally understands what PC players want.
