Microsoft may be interested in acquiring Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

The Information reports that AT&T is considering selling Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (or WB Games), and Microsoft is interested in buying it.

AT&T is reportedly looking to get $4 billion from the sale, and the buyer would get a stellar lineup of studios, including NetherRealm, Monolith, Avalanche, Traveller's Tales, and Rocksteady.

Since DC is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. WB Games is the main source of DC productions. If Warner Bros. were to exit game publishing, it might offer licenses to buyers as part of a deal, along with Lego, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and other properties.

Microsoft is just one of several companies rumored to be interested in acquiring the publisher, along with Activision, Take-Two, and EA; neither AT&T nor the purported interested parties have commented on the reports.

AT&T acquired Warner Bros. when it bought Time Warner in 2018, for $109 billion. This was not the only recent acquisition for the giant conglomerate, and its splurge has left it with $200 billion in debt.

WB Games was expected to announce several major games this summer, following rumors of Batman and leaked Harry Potter RPGs. Batman and Harry Potter were reported to be announced at E3, but have not appeared in the showcase that will replace E3. However, it appears that they will announce something at the DC event in August, which would be the perfect place to announce something bat-themed.
