EPOS Partners with Sennheiser to Launch First Gaming Headset in October

EPOS officially launched its gaming headsets today. The lineup may look familiar, as it once produced Sennheiser gaming headsets such as the GSP 370 and GSP 500. However, the company is now operating independently and promises "an outstanding new portfolio of premium products under the EPOS brand."

Currently, there are no major changes to the EPOS/Sennheiser co-branded lineup; the robust GSP lineup will continue to be sold under both brands, so look for the EPOS/Sennheiser brand name when purchasing any lineup. A full list of headsets can be found on the EPOS website.

Sennheiser is a well-known name in the audio industry and has brought a certain glamour to the gaming headset lineup from the start; the big question will be whether EPOS can enter the market with the same momentum.

EPOS certainly plans to do so through a worldwide marketing campaign that promises "gaming audio that is out of this world." You can check out the first of these in the video above.

"With the ambition to make EPOS the industry leader in premium audio solutions in gaming," said Jeppe Dalberg-Larsen, President of EPOS, "we want to push our limits and unleash our potential through the Power of Audio We aim to win the hearts and minds of all gamers who want to push their limits and unleash their potential through the Power of Audio. We see a great opportunity to cultivate this segment by establishing a dedicated global team of industry experts to continue to innovate solutions for immersive audio experiences. With audio becoming a key industry issue, we look forward to further evolving the global gaming environment over the next few years."

It's one thing to say that, but entering the crowded gaming headset market is a whole other ordeal. Still, I look forward to seeing how this plays out when it comes to actually shipping hardware and how EPOS will differentiate itself from the crowd. Oh, and if there's one thing I'd like to see at least take over the Sennheiser relationship, it's an open-back design. Not many of them have built-in microphones.
