Pagan Online goes offline

Pagan Online, the action RPG from Wargaming and Mad Head Games, is quitting online. Launched last year, the game failed to lure many players into its muddy loot warfare, and keeping it online has apparently become unsustainable.

According to SteamDB, the game peaked at about 3,000 concurrent players during Early Access, but dropped to double digits after the full launch in August and never recovered. This week the peak was 14 concurrent players.

On August 4, the multiplayer server will be turned off and Pagan Online will become a single player game with an update.

In his review of Pagan Online, Eric Watson said it was one of the weakest multiplayer experiences he had encountered. He said, "The campaign is entirely single-player-only, and online multiplayer is limited to two-player one-shot missions. . requires constant connection to the servers no matter what, creating the worst of both worlds."

Pagatson said that "the game is very slow, and the game is very slow at times.

Pagan Online had many of the features of a free-to-play game, but came with a price tag of £20/$30. It is no longer available on Steam and Wargaming.net, but once a single-player patch is released, it will be playable again on the former The game will be playable again on the former once a single player patch is released.

If one purchases Pagan Online, one gets a week of premium and a free vehicle from each of Wargaming's "major games" (presumably World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes) immediately after the patch.
