In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward has decided to do away with the zombie mode that appeared in many previous titles. The team was trying to create something a little more grounded than Black Ops and Infinite War, but apparently the roiling corpses are neither realistic nor realistic. However, it seems that the no-zombies rule was not immediately decided upon, and some concept art of the undead has appeared.

Art submitted by Modern Warfare principal concept artist Aaron Beck is not reminiscent of B-movies, but rather of Swedish artist Simon Stollenhag.

Snow, nuclear power plants, and robots all fit right in with "Tales from the Loop," but the zombies add another level of threat. Don't worry, they're on a leash.

"I thought it would be fun to play with classic 'Call of Duty' zombie gameplay," Beck writes, "hinting that here we have a Russian Special Forces soldier and his quadruped robot duo holding zombified soldiers by their neck chains!" .

No one should be put off by the addition of a zombie mode to Modern Warfare, as it usually diverges significantly from the solo campaign. It is unfortunate that Beck's concept was not pursued further.
