The dictator-driven urban sim "Tropico 6" will be free to play this weekend to celebrate the release of the new DLC "Robilistico."

From today until Sunday, July 12, the basic game will be available for free on Steam. As is customary for free weekend events, there will probably be some discounts for this game and the other two DLCs already released, "Spitter" and "The Llama of Wall Street". Right now it's 40% off in the Steam Summer Sale, but today is the last day.

Along with the impending free weekend, the Lobbyistico DLC has also launched, introducing faction leaders and a new corruption system to the delicate political ecosystem of Tropico Island. Lobbyists can unlock new perks on the island, but at the same time corruption is introduced that, if left unchecked, will have a negative impact on the population.

For a series that is about running a dictatorship, it is curious that we arrived at "Tropico 6" before corruption became an official game mechanic, but hopefully it will add another layer of decision-making that is crucial to running a dictatorship.

Robilistico is available now, and Tropico 6 will be free to play later today.
