A new Thursday is upon us, with not one, not two, but three free games from the Epic Games Store. This week's star of the show is Killing Floor 2, a cooperative FPS that features endless slaughter of zombies (called Zeds in this particular undead setting) rampaging across Europe.
KF2 has actually been out for several years, since its Early Access debut in 2015, but Tripwire Interactive has been actively updating it with new weapons, enemies, maps, events, etc. The player base on Steam remains strong, Cross-play between the Epic and Steam versions of the game will also be supported, so new players can get in on the action with the existing zed killers.
Also out this week is Lifeless Planet, an exploration adventure about a team of international astronauts who crash-land on a distant planet and discover a small Russian town. Weird, right? The second half of the game doesn't quite live up to my initial expectations, but the setting is like the cover of a golden age science fiction novel come to life, and that's good enough for me.
And finally, The Escapists 2, a game about life in the world's toughest prison and, more importantly, escaping from it. It was actually supposed to be available for free a few weeks ago, but due to a botched release on the Epic Games Store, it is now available.
"Killing Floor 2," "Lifeless Planet," and "The Escapists 2" are free on the Epic Games Store until July 16. For more free games, be sure to check out the list of free games available now.
