Far Cry 6 is found in the PS Store

At this rate, it looks like there will be no more surprises for Ubisoft to unveil this weekend. Today it's Far Cry 6, which has just appeared on the PlayStation Store in Hong Kong.

The page itself has been removed, but it is still listed in the list of upcoming PS4 games. And of course, screenshots have already been released on Twitter for posterity.

The cover art seems to confirm that this is the Ubisoft game that Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito mentioned in his Collider interview. Since Far Cry tends to put villains on the cover, he would be playing Anton Castillo, a dictator who rules over a "tropical paradise where time has stopped."

Castillo and his son Diego are apparently trying to make Yala's paradise great again, oppressing anyone who gets in their way. This sparks a rebellion that leads them to step into the boots of Dani Rojas, a resistance fighter who has a shot at liberation. [Initially, Dani used male pronouns, but the store page does not specify her gender. Previously, most Far Cry protagonists have been male, but in Far Cry 5, the game could be played by either male or female players]

Yala is apparently the largest Far Cry map to date. It has jungles, beaches, and the capital city of Esperanza to play on.

As a guerrilla fighter, you will likely have to fight with what you have on hand. There is mention of makeshift weapons, and again, you can travel in various vehicles and recruit NPCs, amigos, to help you in your fight against Castillo.

In addition to offline single-player, the game will also include online multiplayer for two players. And, not surprisingly, microtransactions will also be present.

The release date is set for February 18, 2021, but any release date these days should be taken with a grain of salt. In the meantime, it is very, very likely that more details about Far Cry 6 will be announced at Ubisoft Forward on Sunday, along with Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion.

Update: Shortly after the leak, Ubisoft confirmed that Far Cry 6, or at least Giancarlo, will be at Ubisoft Forward.
