The latest AMD GPU drivers include a new reporting tool to quickly identify bugs.

A new AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition driver has been released with over 20 bug fixes, a new bug reporting tool, and Disintegration optimizations.

The integrated bug reporting tool appears to address the ongoing black screen issue that continues to plague some Radeon GPU owners. Following a series of complaints on Reddit over the past several months, AMD had previously invited users to submit bug reports directly to the company. More recently, the company began testing a bug reporting tool integrated into the Windows Insider program. This feature is now available to everyone.

"AMD will continue to closely monitor and investigate any new reports of black screens or system hangs during extended gameplay. Users are encouraged to use the new bug reporting tool for any issues they may encounter," AMD stated in the 20.7.1 release notes.

Prior to the release of this driver, the Radeon Software utility provided an option to report bugs to AMD, but activating this option required users to go to the AMD website and enter details of the problem and system specifications The new integrated tool provides a way for users to report bugs by entering the relevant specifications. The new integrated tool makes things easier by extracting the relevant specs, so the user only needs to outline the problem. Whether this will result in more stable releases and quicker responses to problems remains to be seen.

On the other hand, a number of bugs have been resolved in the 20.7.1 driver fixes. They are:

An extensive list of bug fixes, but some known issues remain. For example, AMD is aware of an issue with the Radeon RX 5000 series cards causing corruption and system hangs when launching VR applications using the Oculus Rift.

AMD is also aware that on the Radeon RX 5700 cards, the Performance Metrics Overlay and Performance Tuning tabs are incorrectly reporting higher than expected idle clock speeds. Only one specific black screen issue is mentioned; AMD states that Enhanced Sync can cause black screens when enabled in some games and system configurations.

Download the latest drivers from the Radeon Software utility or install them manually from AMD's driver page.
