Life comes at you suddenly. For example, AMD has released its second GPU driver update in less than a week. While the previous release focused on fixing various issues, the new Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.7.2 driver package promises modest performance improvements in Death Stranding and F1 2020.

According to the release notes, owners of the Radeon RX 5700 XT can expect performance gains of up to 8 percent in Death Stranding when played at 2560x1440 at high settings, and up to 5 percent in F1 2020, also at 2560x1440 and played at very high settings can expect up to a 5 percent improvement.

In both cases, AMD's test system consisted of an Intel Core i9 9900K processor and 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. 9900K was our choice as the best CPU for gaming until it was replaced by the 10900K (Comet Lake). It was our choice.

The latest driver release also includes optimizations for the Hyper Scape open beta, but no mention of specific performance gains that users can expect.

There are only half a dozen bug fixes this time around, including one that addresses AMD's recently introduced bug reporting tool that is fully integrated into the Radeon software utility.

Here is the full list:

There are several known issues that AMD is still working to resolve. One of them is that some games may stutter when playing on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards.

If you are experiencing stuttering, freezing, or other performance hiccups with your games, it may or may not be driver related. One option is to try disabling the "Performance Enhancement" game mode that Microsoft introduced in the Windows 10 Creators update. To do this, go to Settings > Games, click on Game Mode in the left column, and change the Game Mode toggle to Off.

20.7.2 As for the GPU driver package, it can be applied from the Radeon Software utility or installed manually by visiting AMD's driver page.
