Hell Let Loose, urban combat and new animations released free of charge over the weekend.

Tactical shooter "Hell Let Loose" is getting a free update on Steam this weekend. Update 7 - Battle of Carentan for this WW2 shooter introduces the hellish urban warfare map that the developer released last month. It's as terrifying as you'd expect, but that's a good thing, because it's a lot more fun than the hedgerows and forests of the previous maps. Here's the trailer for the update:

The new update features a major revamp of the game's animations, both in first-person and third-person perspectives. Climbing over objects is now easier and looks better. The guns all sound better, too, thanks to a new procedural system for each weapon. This attention to detail is what you would expect from a game that is trying to be as close to live action as possible visually. For more information on these details, please see the update post.

Of particular note to those who have played this game in the past or are currently playing is a major change to the meta-game regarding spawning and respawning. Garrison spawn points can now only be placed in friendly sectors, but they are much harder to destroy. This means that squad leaders can now set up outposts to spearhead attacks. This, coupled with several other elements included in the patch, is a device that makes the offensive and defensive game more focused on the front lines.

Hell Let Loose can be tried for free all weekend on Steam.
