Who likes sword fighting? Sword fighting? Fencing? Fighting games? If so, this is for you: Hellish Quart is a physics-driven indie fighting game that realistically recreates the close combat of the 17th century. Yes, the era of musketeers, Janissaries, and Cossacks. It's fantastic. The game uses motion capture of actual swordsmen's movements and 3D scans of their clothing from the period to create a sense of authenticity. The lone indie developer, called Kubold, is an animator and motion capture actor who worked on The Witcher 3.

The game's combat flow and the look of its damage system have led to comparisons to the 90s PlayStation fighting game series "Bushido Blade". The GIF images are exciting even if you are not a fighting game player. A variety of historical sword fighting tactics, blocks, dodges, attacks, and more are shown.

Hellish Quart can be found on Steam and will be released to Early Access "soon." One can also check out the game's official website.
