What doesn't exist, we create. Such is the case with Yarntown, a pixel-art Zelda-like game directly inspired by From Software's PS4 exclusive Bloodborne. The game has never been released on PC, but there are always rumors that it will. Instead of biting your nails in anticipation, you might want to play this one.

It's by Max Mraz using the open-source Solarus engine, and after playing it for about 15 minutes, it certainly looks the part, and I died more than once. It spawns in a place similar to Hunter's Dream and moves you to a grand, gothic city. As the screenshot above shows, it appears that if you stay long enough you will encounter the Cleric Beast (or a version of him). There are other bosses as well.

Enemies drop vials of blood and lanterns are used as checkpoints. Weapons can be upgraded, as can playable characters. It's an impressive effort, especially since it seems to be a side project of Mraz, whose main work is the Solarus Engine RPG Ocean's Heart.

It is available for download at Itch.io.
