Dead by Daylight will be cross-progressed in September, with full crossplay "really soon."

The multiplayer slasher horror "Dead by Daylight" will soon be available on multiple platforms. That's because developer Behaviour Interactive announced cross-progression this September. There is one serious problem, however.

You will be able to access the same status, purchases, and item inventory, provided you have the game on all platforms you wish to play. To access cross-progression, you must first sign up for a Behaviour account (not yet available) and link the corresponding platforms. From there, it should be a simple matter of logging in to each version of the game you wish to play and syncing it.

Behaviour states that while this is intended to be all inclusive, there may be items that are not accessible due to content licensing restrictions. They did not say which items would fall under this category, but it would be items like the Head Case, a cosmetic pack that is included with the Switch version of the game but must be purchased in order to access other items. Even legendary characters from horror films like Ghostface and Pighead are unlikely to be caught in this limitation, as currently available killers have already appeared on all three platforms.

The big caveat is that not all platforms in Dead by Daylight will be cross-progressed. For now, only PC, Switch, and Stadia will receive the update, which will completely exclude the still-popular Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, as well as Dead by Daylight Mobile According to Behaviour, "Other platforms will not be able to make cross-progression available" and that "there is no guarantee that this will happen."

As for crossplay, following a 10-month old experiment that enabled crossplay between the Steam and Windows Store versions, Dead by Daylight is finally ready to offer full cross-play and "cross-friends" (a Unified Friends list) is also confirmed to be ready to be implemented. The timing for this has yet to be determined, but it is said to be coming "really soon."

Dead by Daylight's Cross-Progression update will be released this September for PC, Stadia, and Switch. For those who have been out of the Dead by Daylight loop for a while, Silent Hill's Pyramid Head was recently added as the 20th playable killer.
