Dying Light's Hellraid DLC postponed again

Dying Light's upcoming DLC Hellraid has been delayed at the last minute following a recent beta test.

The DLC incorporates elements of Techland's cancelled Hellraid as a procedurally generated dungeon crawler and was scheduled to launch this week on July 23. However, a tweet from Techland announced that the release has been pushed back to August 13 in order to apply suggestions received from the community after the recent beta test.

Techland did not say what suggestions would be incorporated into the game. Players complained about the numerous technical difficulties in the beta, while others were concerned that Hellraid felt like a medieval-themed reskin of the base game, without enough content to match. Nevertheless, a few weeks are not enough time to significantly expand the DLC before launch, so Techland will likely squash a few more bugs in the time it has left.

Hellraid has been plagued with problems ever since it first appeared as an in-development mod for Dead Island in 2011. Originally slated for release in 2015, it was later put on hold before being integrated into Techland's more successful 2015 project, Dying Light.

Dying Light: Hellraid will be released on August 13 for PC and August 14 for consoles. Considering that Dying Light 2 was originally scheduled to be released earlier this year, it is impressive that the previous title is still receiving major content updates, even if it is a recycled remnant of an earlier failed project.
