Co-op dungeon crawler Blightbound is coming to Steam Early Access next week. Publisher Devolver Digital announced today that the game will be in open beta on Steam from July 24-26.

Blightbound is an interesting mashup of other games and genres, which we described in a recent preview as "a chimera of RPGs." Luke Winkie writes, "Streets of Rage-style brawler action mixed with old-school exponential Diablo number-crunchers."

"The art style is reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon and Oxygen Not Included, but strategically, players see MOBA-like interlocking synergies and Ultimate Timer.

As cumbersome as it may sound, developer Ronimo Games has actually taken a lighter touch with only three classes at launch, each with clearly defined abilities: only the healer can heal, only the tank draws aggro, only the wizard can range Ronimo hopes that this will encourage players to stick together and work as a team, a task that will make balancing the game during Early Access more manageable.
