343 calls Halo Infinite "the beginning of the next decade of Halo".

It took 343 Industries five years to make "Halo Infinite," and from what I hear, we won't see "Halo Infinite 2" or "Halo 7" or whatever you want to call it in a few years after its release in late 2020! I'm sure.

"We want to grow 'Halo Infinite' over time, not transition it into a numbered title," Chris Lee, head of "Halo Infinite" studio, said in an interview with IGN. Chris Lee told IGN in an interview, "'Halo Infinite' is the start of the next decade of 'Halo' and we're building it with the fans and the community."

Lee also said that "Halo Infinite is the start of the next decade of Halo."

Lee called "Infinite" a "platform for the future," but it is unclear what he meant by that; IGN claims that "Halo Infinite" is not a live service game, but that "Infinite" could realistically replace a numbered title as a " The only way it can function as a "platform" is if it receives updates and expansions like a live service game. Perhaps the difference might be that these expansions would offer a completely independent campaign, rather than being tied to one ongoing storyline.

"Halo Infinite" has a seemingly self-contained storyline and does not require the knowledge provided in the Halo spin-off novels and comics that was a problem with "Halo 4" and "Halo 5," Lee claims. He told IGN, "This time, players are free to explore the ring, but we're telling a story with a beginning, middle, and end, and we want to guide players wherever they go."

No release date has been set for Infinite yet, but it will be released on Xbox and PC "Holiday 2020." More information about the campaign will be forthcoming.
