Grappling Hook in 'Halo Infinite' Won't Turn Master Chief into Spider-Man

Among the new tools Master Chief will have in "Halo Infinite" is the grapple shot (grappling hook). It does not have the freedom of movement and utility of Spider-Man's.

In the Xbox Games Showcase trailer, this massive, heavily-armed behemoth looked very useful, jumping into crowds of enemies, snatching explosives, and passing obstacles without difficulty, but don't expect the Chief to be very acrobatic.

"You have to understand, fans, Master Chief is not Spider-Man," head of design Jerry Hook told Gamespot. 'What Grappleshot does is completely different.'

Just looking at the environment, it's clear that he won't be swinging around everywhere, but now that he's said that, we'd love to play a game where Master Chief soars through the air like a neighborhood Spartan.

In the campaign, equipment like the grapple shot seems to be a permanent upgrade, but in multiplayer it functions a little differently; 343 Industries explained on their blog that the grapple shot is a pickup you get in the multiplayer map The details on how it works in multiplayer are as follows More details on how it will work in multiplayer will be available soon.

I had a chat with a few people about what they thought of the "Halo Infinite" reveal, and no one agreed that the grapple shot was poor. However, I was on vacation and would have gladly endorsed it. There isn't a game yet made that couldn't benefit from the addition of a superior grappling hook, and "Halo" really needs the help.
