Fatshark had already announced plans for Vermintide 2 before Darktide's release, teasing an expansion to Chaos Wastes and more career DLC, and now reaffirms its commitment in a letter to the community.

With the announcement of Darktide, we understand that you have many questions around our commitment to Vermintide 2. The answer is simple: we remain committed to Vermintide 2. [We look forward to the continued development of Vermintide 2 and our next major DLC update is Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - Chaos Wastes. We are also already working on our next career after the positive reception of Grail Knight: ...... Of course, there are many more that we cannot announce yet.

While "Vermintide 2" replaces its predecessor, "Darktide" is Fatshark branching out with a new setting and characters, and we hope the two can coexist. The setting seems very similar, with a foursome going on a killing spree in a monster infested city, but classes, customization, and systems are still a mystery.

No release date has been set for Darktide, but we can expect the hive city purge to begin next year; Chaos Wastes is expected much sooner, while Fatshark is aiming for a release this winter.
