343 Industries is working on a graphic critique of Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite recently came under fire after the release of its campaign at the Xbox Games Showcase. The consensus was that it didn't look very next-gen, with complaints about lighting, low texture detail, and overall flatness; 343 Industries addressed this criticism with a community update.

343 supports the Halo Infinite aesthetic, which community manager John Junyszek said is intended to have "a more vibrant palette, cleaner models, and less noisy objects," reminiscent of the original Halo trilogy. He said it is reminiscent of the original "Halo" trilogy. However, he admits that there is still work to be done when it comes to visual fidelity.

"There is work to be done to address these areas and increase the level of fidelity and overall presentation for the final game. The build used for the campaign demo was a work-in-progress a few weeks ago, with various graphical elements and game systems not yet finished and polished." While some of the feedback is expected and relates to areas that are already in progress, other aspects of the feedback have brought new opportunities and considerations that the team is taking very seriously and evaluating.

343 is not ready to share what exactly will be changed and how, but is working on a plan to address feedback regarding "detail, clarity, and overall fidelity."

Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg defended it last week, calling it a work in progress that "keeps getting better and better." He also noted the difficulty of showing fidelity in streams, especially when viewed in 1080p. Nevertheless, even the high-definition version left something to be desired.

The game will be available this winter, though no release date has been set yet. However, there may be a chance to play it before it launches; 343 is hoping to host a public hands-on before launch. The extensive testing phase, as seen with the Master Chief Collection, has been hampered by the team working from home and is currently up in the air.
