2020 was truly the year of "Halo" on PC, and after the December release of "Halo: Reach" gave us our first taste of the "Halo Wars" series since 2003, 343 Industries quickly released remastered versions of the first trilogy.

In the latest development update for "The Master Chief Collection," 343's Tyler Davis announced that testing for "Halo 3: ODST" will begin in the first half of August for Halo Insiders, and with that, the Tyler Davis announced that the first test of "Halo 3: ODST" will begin in the first half of August for Halo Insiders, and that the update will address hit detection.

The initial test will include six single-player and co-op campaign missions, updated customization, and new Firefight features. The wave-based Firefight mode was originally introduced in ODST and continued in Reach; the MCC version will add asynchronous networking, dedicated servers, matchmaking, and custom game options, though not as many as Reach.

Davis also teased some of the new features that will be added to the collection this year. The first of these is cross-play, which 343 plans to release along with input-based matchmaking and server region selection. Other features include Steam account linking, a custom game browser, and PC file sharing. [Full list here:

In addition to making older titles playable on PC for the first time, 343 is preparing to release "Halo Infinite" this winter. The campaign was first unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase last month, and multiplayer was recently confirmed to be free-to-play. The Coronavirus has made large-scale testing difficult, but the company still hopes to hold hands-on sessions for the public before launch.
