General
Here are all the new skins that will appear in the second act of the Valorant, as well as the deathmatch mode.

Valorant doesn't like to sit still, and the fast-paced shooter is already gearing up for Act 2, which kicks off this week. That means new agents, a new skin set, a new deathmatch, and another battle pass.

Riot has already unveiled Killjoy, a robot-loving German genius, last week. She is equipped with nanoswarm grenades, exploding robots, turrets, and traps to trap players. She will be available in the Act 2 update tomorrow, August 4.

Coming along with Killjoy is a new set of weapon skins called Glitchpop. This evokes a "dystopian future where death has no consequences," but really just makes the weapons look very flashy: the Frenzy, Judge, Bulldog, and Odin guns can be adorned with this skin, which can also be leveled up with Valorant's in-game currency Radianite. The dagger can also be transformed. Daggers can also be transformed. They can all be purchased individually, or you can get a bundled version for 8,700 VP (about $80/$80).

If you like being handed out cosmetics while slowly moving along a monotonous course, there is good news. Act 2 adds a new battle pass and unique cosmetics, including sprays, weapon skins, and toys that can be attached to guns. The price is 1,000 VP (~£10/$10).

I play Valorant enough that I'm happy to splurge some money, but Riot makes it hard to get excited about its skins and trinkets; Valorant has little personality, so playing dress-up with guns is not particularly appealing. The Elderflame set is absolutely ridiculous, but it's not worth talking about when the whole set costs £100/$100.

Of more interest is the free-for-all deathmatch mode, in the vein of CS:GO, where there are no teams, everyone can respawn, and the first person to 30 kills wins. Perhaps the most dramatic change, however, is the elimination of abilities in this mode. You can buy any gun you want and replace it whenever you want, but all the fancy power you've grown accustomed to is gone. This might be a great way to warm up before a ranked match.

Another feature of death matches is that you can regain lost strength without abilities. When you defeat someone, they drop a health pack that fully restores you; according to Riot, the goal is to keep people moving and aggressive, and a UAV that reveals everyone's location every five seconds should help with that. Respawning takes only 3 seconds, and the match lasts only 6 minutes.

Unfortunately, this means that everyone gets an operator right out of the gate. This dreaded sniper rifle is the bane of my existence, but at least I usually get time to enjoy the game before it makes an appearance. Funke Joseph claimed that the operator is not overpowered, but all I know is that I live in fear of the operator and wish it was in the trash can.

Deathmatch will not be part of tomorrow's update, but the beta will begin the day after, on August 5. Until then, you can see the skins, gun buddies, stickers, and new battle passes that will be in the store below.
