Yesterday, I reported that a 4K remastered version of the legendary flash browser game "Frog Fractions" was released on Steam as "Frog Fractions: Game of the Decade Edition". I personally called it "probably one of the best indie games of all time," but I should actually correct that. I won't spoil any of that here.
Anyway, I said, "Can someone tell me if the $8 hat DLC is "Frog Fractions 3"?" Then I couldn't help myself, so I bought the $8 DLC, "Hop's Iconic Cap" After purchasing the DLC, you can click the toggle on the game's menu screen to start the game with the main character, Hop, wearing a little beanie. (Nice hat.) If you start without the hat, the game you play is "Frog Fractions," which you may remember.
If you start the game with the hat on, you will be prompted to select a save slot and enter a game like Frog Fractions, but not. No spoilers.
It is worth noting, however, that this is not Frog Fractions 3. That game was released within Glittermitten Grove several years ago; Frog Fractions 2 was an elaborate alternate reality game until Frog Fractions 3 was released within Glittermitten Grove. That's right: the release of Hop's Icon Cap DLC is "Frog Fractions 4," to be exact.
When asked for comment, creator Jim Crawford was extremely clear about how it came about. 'It's a sequel to Frog Fraction. He said, "And he said: 'Frog Fractions 2,' in my opinion, was a Kickstarter/ARG to find 'Frog Fractions 2,' Frog Fractions 3 was a Glittermitten Grove, Frog Fractions 4 was hat DLC." But to be clear, this is just his headcanon.
I will personally say until the day I die that this is the long lost game known as "Frog Fractions 2" and nothing you do will change that.
To celebrate the release, Crawford is offering Hop's Iconic Cap DLC and Glitter Mitten Gloves as a Frog Fractions Cinematic Universe bundle on Steam at a discount.
