GTA 5 is compatible with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as the standalone version of GTA Online, and more updates are guaranteed. Those playing on Xbox One or PS4 may have missed it, but there are special things in the sandbox that are not available on PC Additions.
"For the Grand Theft Auto Online community, the journey will continue into the next generation," Take-Two said in its quarterly earnings report.
Not surprising, given its enduring popularity and the ability of PCs to keep up with enhancements through future updates for next-gen consoles. A summer update is planned first, and Rockstar has also teased a later update that will include a new heist in an entirely new location.
This later update will apparently be the largest to date and will likely be for the new game consoles. Rockstar did not say whether the update will be dedicated to next-gen consoles or PCs, or how the game will be reborn once it is released on the Xbox Series X and PS5.
While the details of the exclusive additions are still a mystery, we do know that "GTA 5" will receive technical improvements and visual upgrades for the new consoles. It is unclear if this will simply bring the console version in line with the current PC version or if there will be further upgrades. Whatever the outcome, it is reasonable to expect that the PC version will remain the definitive one in terms of visual fidelity and features.
Red Dead Online also received a recent update following a lack of new elements. The role of naturalist has been added, which Chris described as "just a hunting addition," which doesn't sound very interesting. One of the new NPCs gives you medicine when you kill an animal.
In July, Rockstar said another update for Red Dead Online would include "new expansions and augmentations of existing roles" later this year. It was mentioned again in the quarterly earnings report, warning of new additions coming to Frontier Pursuits, but we will have to wait a bit longer to find out what exactly they are.
