Intel "KA" Series Avengers Edition Comet Lake CPUs Now Available

Intel is known for occasionally releasing special edition processors, such as the Core i7 8086K CPU, which celebrates 40 years of x86 computing. But this is the first time a tie-up with Marvel has happened, and if the multiple listings overseas of the new "KA" model are any indication, it's happening again.

As you may already know, the "K" designation means that the CPU's multiplier is unlocked, making overclocking easier. However, the "A" designation is new and apparently means that these new SKUs are Avengers Edition CPUs.

Several retailers are listing these unannounced CPUs in their respective storefronts. One of them, Hanoi Computer (via Guru3D), clearly labels these as Avengers Edition models, possibly with pixelated photos of the themed retail packaging.

Given that several retailers have listed them, it is likely that these are authentic. Prices vary by region, but based on Inida.it (via Videocardz):

Interestingly, at that particular retailer, the Core i9 10850KA is the same price as the regular Core i9 10850K, but other KA models are slightly cheaper than the K model.

Also, the specs seem to be the same for the K and KA editions. This means that they are basically themed packages. Maybe they will get a download code for Marvel's "Avengers" game, which will be released on September 4.

This is a bit of a regular thing for Intel, but when you're sandwiched between an army of attractive Zen 2 CPUs that are about to be enhanced by the Zen 3, you have to think outside the box, I suppose. Or dress up the box, so to speak.
