Fallout 76's New Boss Fight Will Literally Scare Characters Away

At QuakeCon 2020, which naturally takes place exclusively online, I was able to see the Fallout 76 boss fight event "A Colossal Problem". This boss fight takes place in an 8-player instance that can be entered after the Momonga Mine has been nuked.

The irradiated mine is full of dangers. The Wendigo boss, of course, and his hordes of minions, as well as a cave-in collapse that can leave you trapped under a boulder. But there is also a new fear: fear itself.

The fearsome Wendigo Colossus can emit piercing screams that literally scare the characters and make them flee in terror. See clips of this fear system in action below.

It is actually quite funny to watch, but may not be so funny if you are surrounded by a pack of mutants right now.

The effect doesn't seem to last very long, but the important thing to remember is that you have no control over where your character runs. He can run into a swarm of irradiated barrels and start taking damage. He can also run into a crowd of enemies. They can even run into a huge rotating drill that is still operating in the mine. If you can make a giant spinning drill think it's a good idea to run full speed into it, it's a terrifying Wendigo.

The new fear system makes this boss fight even harder to win, but not without help. The Wendigo Colossus is extremely durable and is truly a bullet sponge of a boss. When you defeat the lesser Wendigo in the mines, its corpse will replenish your ammunition. So, I hope I don't run out of ammunition with all the other horrors.

And if you succeed, you get a terribly nice reward: a giant Wendigo rug. See the photo below. It will be a great conversation starter the next time you have friends over for nuxe cassine.
