There is a great free strategy game about water supply in the Middle Ages.

"Waterworks! is a free card-based strategy game by veteran indie developer Scriptwelder. The game involves supplying water to the medieval city of GrudziÄ…dz, which I can barely pronounce and statistically speaking, you probably can't either. It sounds educational, and it is, and it's a great resource management strategy game; you can play it for free on itch.io, so if it sounds interesting to you, give it a try.

Waterworks! uses decks of cards to build the infrastructure and resources of a burgeoning medieval city. Over the course of several hundred years, that infrastructure must be rebuilt and expanded to allow for large cities to thrive in places with little or no natural fresh water. It is truly a tightly constructed game in which each card has a purpose and an appropriate use, and hand management allows the city to effectively grow its water supply before its population exceeds its supply. By the end of the game, it is a truly brilliant feat of hydraulic engineering that probably would have been unthinkable 500-600 years ago.

Scriptwelder's latest paid game release is Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive; for more information on Scriptwelder, visit their website.
