Street Fighter" Producer Yoshinori Ono Leaves Capcom

Yoshinori Ono, executive producer of the "Street Fighter" series, has stepped down after nearly 30 years at Capcom. Announcing his retirement on Twitter, Ono said, "I have been involved with the Street Fighter brand for a long time and experienced good times, bad times, and non-existent times. As all of the Street Fighter brand's activities return to the sunshine and vibrancy, I want to thank all of the players, especially those who have been warm and kind in their support of the brand over the last decade or so."

Ono also mentioned the Capcom Pro Tour, which was forced to move online this year and caused some problems. I understand that there has been criticism about this particular format," Ono said. But I am convinced that it is important to keep the event alive, even in this form, to shed light on the various hopes it holds for the future."

Ono concluded by saying that he looks forward to "next time [as] one of the [general] gamers" and to seeing a new generation take over Street Fighter, and concluded with a Shoryuken.

Rumor has it that Ono had already been removed from his position as director of Street Fighter 6, and that he had changed direction and extended the development period by one year.
