AT&T May Continue to Own Warner Bros. Interactive

Last month it was reported that AT&T was considering selling Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which produces Batman: Arkham games, NetherRealm's Injustice series, and LEGO games. At the time, it appeared that Microsoft was interested in acquiring the publisher and its studios, but Warner Bros.' game division may remain intact after all.

In an e-mail to staff a few days ago, Warner Media CEO Jason Killer said, "Warner Bros. Interactive will remain part of the Studio & Network Group." While only a small portion of the email touched on the fate of WB Games, Kilar announced that Warner Media would be reducing the size of the company's overall team and workforce as part of the changes outlined in the email.

There is no explanation for AT&T's decision to continue to own Warner Brothers Interactive (aka WB Games). This huge conglomerate had a tremendous debt load of $200 billion. Of course, it may simply be that they will hold WB Games for now and reconsider whether to sell it at a later date.

This news comes at about the same time that Rocksteady finally announced its next game: the Warner Bros.-published "Suicide Squad" is set to be officially announced on August 22 at the Fandome virtual event in DC.
