DreamHack postpones remaining 2020 festivals

DreamHack has postponed the rest of its 2020 festival due to the coronavirus, but there is an online alternative.

Co-CEO Marcus Lindmark announced that "the goal of all DreamHack employees is to provide a great experience at our events, and we thrive when our community comes together for a weekend of festivals that are shared and loved around the world. However, these are extraordinary times and the safety of our participants and staff has never been more important than it is now."

DreamHack had previously postponed DreamHack Dallas, DreamHack Summer, and DreamHack Montreal to 2021 as a result of the pandemic, and next year will add five more events:

The new dates have not yet been announced, but will be announced later this year via the DreamHack website. [The "DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite" is a monthly online tournament for players in select regions of Europe and North America, awarding a monthly prize pool of $250,000 until next January. [Also, the DreamHack Open Summer (four regional tournaments for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), StarCraft 2 Masters and Warcraft 3 Open (Blizzard's new partnership with ESL and DreamHack partnerships detailed in January), as well as the League of Legends championship.
