Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a huge success. Publisher Devolver Digital said over the weekend that Fall Guys is the biggest launch ever and is currently more popular than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, GTA5, League of Legends, Fortnite, Minecraft and more popular than all other games on Twitch, he said.

But like many other popular online games, success brings with it the headache of cheaters: complaints of cheating from disgruntled players on Twitter, Reddit, Steam, and elsewhere, as can be seen in some of the embedded videos It didn't seem to take long for cheaters to find a foothold in this hilarious competition.

It is not clear what kind of anti-cheat system Fall Guys has, or if there is one at all: the game does not have a built-in reporting feature, and players who encounter cheaters are encouraged to report them on the Fall Guys Discord. As far as I know, the developers do not respond to individual messages (I'm on the "Report Hackers" channel right now and have received many complaints), but Mediatonic is aware of the problem and told Polygon they hope to have some fixes in the near future.

Winning a match gives you crowns that can be used for cosmetic items. That said, Mediatonic should have been better prepared for this situation, but then again, there are not many playbooks on anti-cheating for fickle multiplayer platformers.

For one thing, cosmetics aside, "Fall Guys" doesn't seem like the kind of game that would attract a group of cheaters like "Fortnite" or "Apex Legends". It's a cute, goofy party game. But more importantly, I don't think even the most optimistic of the development team could have reasonably predicted that "Fall Guys" would gain such popularity so quickly.

We have contacted Devolver and Mediatonic and asked about a possible timeline for dealing with cheats and will update if we hear back.
