Dead by Daylight adds PC and console cross-play and unified friends list

Dead by Daylight's cross-play feature has been updated, allowing PC players to play against console players. Previously, cross-play only allowed Steam and Microsoft Store players to play together, but the scope has been extended to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. The only one peering jealously over the fence is the mobile version, which has been left out of the crossover fun.

The PC and console versions of the game now allow players to team up and hunt down alternate players, which can be quite useful if you have friends who own the game but are on different platforms. However, since the PC version's in-game chat feature is not available in the console version, and mouse and keyboard support is not planned, cross-play does not seem to be a perfect solution; as explained in the FAQ, you can opt out of cross-play at any time, but the result matchmaking times may increase.

Behaviour Interactive previously announced that "cross-progression" would be coming to Dead by Daylight. When the feature goes live in September, players will be able to retain their status, inventory, and purchases across supported versions. Previously, the company confirmed that only the PC, Switch, and upcoming Stadia versions would be supported.
