Razer Revives Naga Gaming Mouse for Left-Handed MMO Players

Due to "fervent" pleas from left-handed gamers, Razer has made good on its promise to reintroduce an ergonomically designed version of the Naga with thumb buttons on the right side.

It was almost a year ago that Razer announced its intention to bring back the Razer Naga Left-Handed Edition. At the time, Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan said it was a "costly venture" that would require a "significant investment." He also noted that Razer shipped as many left-handed rodents a day as right-handed mice in six years.

"It is a significant cost to maintain the production line, and given the low demand over the last few years, we are scaling back production of left-handed mice," Tan said at the time.

"Recently, we have heard from many left-handed and disabled gamers and others how the left-handed Naga has made a difference in their lives, and they have asked us to continue production and, if possible, update the left-handed Naga to the latest iteration Tan added.

Razer is now answering that call, but technically the new left-handed Naga is not the latest version of the Naga. It is the Naga Trinity, one of the best gaming mice for right-handed players, and while the Naga Trinity comes with interchangeable side plates with different button configurations, the Naga Left-Handed Edition sticks to the original design with 12 programmable side buttons (19 overall).

But it is not exactly behind the curve. The left-handed rodent is slightly lighter (3.84 oz. versus 4.23 oz.), more sensitive at the top end (20,000 DPI versus 16,000 DPI) thanks to the Focus+ optical sensor, and faster tracking (450 IPS and 50G versus 650 IPS speed and 60 G acceleration).

This is a welcome addition to left-handed peripherals. Most left-handed mice that are ideal for gaming are actually ambidextrous, but relatively few are ergonomically designed for south-handed users. The Deathadder Left-Handed Edition was also an outstanding product, but appears to have been discontinued.

The Razer Naga Left-Handed Edition is currently available for $100.

Thanks, Tom's Hardware
