More than 7.5 Million Get "A Total War Saga: Troy" for Free

A Total War Saga: Troy was free for the first 24 hours on the Epic Games Store this week, and it appears that more than 7.5 million people purchased it during that time. If every one of these gift copies opens up and ejects a bunch of spear-toting Greeks, we'll be in trouble. [Rob Bartholomew, Creative Assembly's chief product officer, said through the ancient Trojan horse medium of press releases, "We were optimistic, but we didn't anticipate this level of excitement. 'Working with Epic to give this new film away for free has been a real treat. Now we can welcome many strategy players, old and new, to experience this wonderful Saga. We are very happy."

Our reviewer Fraser Brown gave Troy a score of 75 and wrote, "This Total War attempt is more successful than Thrones of Britannia. However, he goes on to say that he would not replay Troy, but would instead return to the Three Kingdoms and Warhammer 2.

We'll have to wait and see if this giveaway will cause many "Fortnite" fans to discover the joys of one-more-turns and become frustrated with siege warfare. But it would certainly be nice.

A Total War Saga: Troy is currently available on the Epic Games Store for £35/$50/€50/$75.
