Quake 3 is free now, but not for long

Quake 3 is currently free to play on Bethesda's launcher, but only if you log in before the promotion expires. It expires in approximately three days, at 9:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 p.m. CST, 5:00 p.m. CST, and 2:00 a.m. EST on August 20 and August 21, respectively.

The 1999 classic is multiplayer-only, so if you're interested in the single-player campaign, grab Quake 2 while it's free. That said, the Quake mod scene is still very active, and you can find some decent single-player general conversion mods if you look.

2020 is the golden age of free-to-play games, and Remnant: Remnant: From the Ashes is currently free on the Epic Games Store. For a list of other free games that are now 0 cents, click here.

The Quake giveaway came after QuakeCon At Home, where Bethesda promised to give away Quake 2 and Quake 3 if the charity fundraising milestone was met. The goal was $30,000, and $686 was reached and surpassed.
