"Red Lantern," which will be released later this year, is the story of one woman, five sled dogs, and the insurmountable Alaskan wilderness. This story-driven roguelite centers on a mishap at the famous Iditarod sled race and the survival that follows. The film stars Ashley Burch. You may remember Burch from her recent acclaimed roles as Parvati Holcomb in "The Outer Walls" and Aloy in "Horizon Zero Dawn." The game also features five dogs, who appear to be very good dogs.

The trailer outlines the basics of the story: the protagonist heads to Alaska to compete in the Iditarod. Instead, he gets lost in the wilderness after an accident involving a bear. According to the game description, there are "hundreds" of unique encounters as he tries to find his way home with his five dogs (did I mention he gets five dogs?). The choices in the game revolve around decisions such as hunting and general approaches to survival.

The developer, Timberline Studios, is a new company formed in 2018 by former film, theater, and game industry professionals. Many of the developers worked on the 2015 episodic King's Quest series.
