The closed pre-order beta for "Marvel's Avengers," which took place last weekend, will begin tomorrow, August 21, at 9 p.m. local time. You will need a Square Enix account to play, but if you have a Final Fantasy 14 account, you can use that to create a Square Enix account right away.

The beta will allow players to experience the majority of the gameplay available, including multiplayer missions and a story featuring Ms. Marvel. Whether you play the Hulk, Thor, or Iron Man, your main objective is to fully level up everything around you, and enemies are scattered all over the place like helpless ragdolls. Participating in the beta unlocks some of the perks of the main game, but does not carry over any other progress.

Last weekend's closed beta, offered for the first time to PC players, got off to a somewhat rocky start due to performance issues.
