General
The "Wonder Boy" revival continues with "Asha in Monster World.

Following two excellent recent films, a new Wonder Boy game is slated for release in 2021. Wonder Boy Asha in Monster World is directed by Ryue Nishizawa, creator of the original series, and features the main character from the 1994 Genesis/Mega Drive game Monster World IV.

The announcement at IGN confirms both a PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch version; we have yet to hear about a PC version, but if it is anything like "Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom" or "Wonder Boy: The Dragon Trap," a PC version will eventually be released.

A PC version of a recent series is in the works.

As seems to be the pattern with recent series, "Asha in Monster World" will not be developed by the same team responsible for the "Cursed Kingdom" and "Dragon Trap" remakes. It is a joint development between Studiodink (The Legend of Heroes: Train of Cold Steel 3) and publisher Inin Games.

In addition to Nishizawa returning as director, Shinichi Sakamoto, composer of the original series, character designer Maki Ozora, and creative manager Takanori Kurihara will work on the game. Other details are unknown, except that Asha's nominal sidekick is a flying Peperogoo, but a gameplay video will be shown at IGN's gamescom Awesome Indies showcase on August 29.

For those who have never played Monster World IV, it will be quite fascinating. Click here for a longer gameplay video:
