Nvidia RTX 3090 to feature 24GB GDDR6X memory, reports AIB

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 will have 24GB of GDDR6X memory, AIB sources told Videocardz. They also revealed the RTX 3080's 10GB memory configuration and that there will be no RTX 3080 Ti at launch.

According to these latest rumors, the RTX 3090 will be the most memory-packed GeForce graphics card to date; GDDR6X memory has already been confirmed to exist by manufacturer Micron, and its use in Nvidia's upcoming high-end GPUs has been suggested It will be used in Nvidia's next high-end GPUs. If so, the RTX 3090 will have large, high-speed memory.

GDDR6X memory is said to be up to 21 Gbps. The worst-case scenario would be 19 Gbps, which would upgrade the RTX 2080 Ti's 11GB of GDDR6 memory to 14 Gbps. [The report suggests that the RTX 3090 will have a 384-bit bus and the RTX 3080 will have a 320-bit bus.

The Videocardz report only confirms memory capacities for the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080. However, we also expect the RTX 3070 to be available in September, as suggested by MSI's recent registration with the Eurasion Economic Commission (EEC).

We can also say with confidence that our own digging suggests that the RTX 3080 Ti is not set to be part of the initial 30-series lineup, as similarly suggested in the aforementioned report.

With less than a week to go before the Nvidia Ampere launch date, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang will be back on the kitchen floor for the "GeForce Special Event" on September 1, 2020, where he will discuss the upcoming Ampere generation gaming graphics cards, and is expected to divulge all about them.
