Activision Confirms Cross-Gen Multiplayer and Zombies for "Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War"

Following details data-mined from the "Call of Duty: Warzone" game files, Activision has confirmed that 2020's "Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War" will support cross-generational multiplayer. That means players on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X can play together.

Cold War will be released on November 13 for PC and current-gen consoles, but a release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X is still unknown. At this time it is speculated to be sometime in November, so it won't be too long before cross-generational play becomes a reality. Cross-play continues to be a great feature of Modern Warfare, so it would be great to see it return.

Activision also confirmed that zombies will return in Cold War. The publisher did not reveal any additional information at this time, but the logo Activision showed off during the live-streamed private presentation had the word "zombie" made of ice. Apparently, Treyarch is taking the "cold" literally regarding zombies in Cold War.

More details about zombies may be revealed during the multiplayer-focused Cold War live stream on September 9. Also, what Cold War is trying to do to standard multiplayer and how it will integrate with Warzone in the future will likely be revealed there. We also had the opportunity to see bits and pieces of the campaign in a hands-off presentation.
