Dota 2's The International 2020 breaks record for prize money, but no tournament date set

Despite continued uncertainty as to when the event will take place, Dota 2's The International 2020 set a new record for total prize money today. As of this writing, the total prize pool stands at $34,393,631, compared to last year's total of $34,440,068. [Given that The International 2020 will likely be postponed to 2021, Valve may continue to hold the event much longer than in previous years. Normally, battle passes are available until just after the event ends, but with no events scheduled, they won't be available for some time.

The new milestone makes The International 2020 the largest prize pool in esports history. That's no surprise: according to esportsearnings.com, the top five prize pools to date have all been dominated by The International's tournaments, with the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Finals in sixth place.
