"Resident Evil" will be adapted for live-action television, courtesy of Netflix. We've known about this for the last year, and while a description was erroneously published in Netflix's media center in February, it has now been officially confirmed.
The streaming platform teased the series via the NXOnNetflix Twitter account, posting a photo of the script and a brief description.
The Wesker children? Yes; according to a more detailed synopsis released by Netflix, the show will follow the misadventures of twin sisters Jade and Billy Wesker in two timelines. In the first timeline, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie are relocated to New Raccoon City. It is a manufactured, corporate town that is forced upon the two in the throes of adolescence. But as they spend time there, the two come to realize that the town is more than it seems and that their father may be hiding a dark secret. A secret that could destroy the world.
Cut to a second timeline, more than a decade in the future. And there are over six billion monsters - humans and animals infected with the T-virus - and while Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this new world, secrets from her past about her sister, her father, and herself continue to haunt her.
Her father's name is never mentioned, but it is quite possible that he is Albert Wesker, an old friend and longtime Biohazard antagonist. I'm sure he's a great dad.
The date and cast are still a mystery, but eight one-hour episodes are expected, with Supernatural's Andrew Dove serving as showrunner. Bronwen Hughes, known for her work on episodes of The Walking Dead, will direct the first two episodes.
I don't know if I have the stomach to watch another zombie TV show or another Resident Evil adaptation, but when the Netflix algorithm gives it to me, I will inevitably give in. How about you guys?
