'Call of Duty' Streamer Accidentally Exposes Cheating, Loses Twitch Channel

Call of Duty: Warzone streamer MrGolds recently found himself in a rather awkward situation. During a streaming session, while showing off his gaming skills to nearly 1,800 viewers, the cheat engine he was supposedly using was displayed on his desktop and shown to the entire world.

The moment came while MrGolds was waiting in the Warzone lobby, and was clipped and shared on Twitter by Era7e, who also streams Call of Duty on Twitch.

"I'm just good at recoil (control), I'm good at the game," MrGolds says in the fateful moment." The first time I saw someone who was good at the game - the reason I'm talking to you guys now is because you're really playing. You know what I'm saying? Have you ever seen someone play like me?

Unfortunately for MrGolds, the EngineOwning window is clearly visible in the background of his desktop, below the task manager. cheats": the EngineOwning website states, "We believe that everyone should have the ability to win and enjoy online competition."

MrGolds seemed to deny cheating in an Instagram post, saying, "I didn't hack yesterday." The message is a bit difficult to decipher, perhaps because English is not his first language, but the intent is clear enough. He also indicates that at some point after this incident, he streamed with a background camera "showing no background programs running" on his monitor, presumably to prove that he did not need to cheat to win.

Despite his innocent protestations, Twitch seems to see the issue differently, as his channel is now defunct; Twitch's community guidelines explicitly prohibit cheating in online games: "Cheating, hacking, botting, tampering, or any other activity that provides an unfair advantage to the account holder in online multiplayer games is prohibited. This also includes exploiting another broadcaster's live broadcast to harass them in-game, such as stream sniping."

It is unclear whether this is a permanent ban or a temporary suspension, but either way it is an interesting payback. Unfortunately, this highlights Warzone's ongoing problems with cheaters.
