Sony wants more first-party games on PC

Sony stated in its 2020 company report that it plans to bring more first-party games to the PC in the future.

"We will consider expanding first-party titles to the PC platform to drive further growth in profitability," the report states. Sony's decision to bring more of its own catalog to the PC was cited as an important strategic point in the future direction of the Games & Network Services division.

The reason for the change is stated in part in the report: "Competition from online PC games and other industry players is expected to continue to intensify." In short, Sony is trying to bring games to the PC because a certain segment of the game-buying public is already there, and Sony probably thinks they will stay there.

This statement comes in the wake of the PC releases of Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn. Both titles are PS4 exclusives, and according to Sony's previous statements, their release on PS4 is likely to be even sooner: the PC versions of "PlayStation" console exclusives have been delayed.

To date, no first-party PS5 exclusives have been announced for PC, but several third-party exclusives have been announced. Microsoft has announced first-party and third-party Xbox Series X exclusives for PC.
