Two weeks ago, Fall Guys took advantage of the brand frenzy on Twitter by asking various companies that vigorously marketed the Fall Guys costume concept to donate to charity. The deal was that in two weeks the top bidder would add a Fall Guys skin to the battle royale and donate the funds to Special Effect, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of gamers with disabilities.
Things moved quickly, with an ever-increasing number of pledges flying in, from server hosting companies to indie game companies to individual streamers. Even bidet companies wanted to participate. Soon, bids rose from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands, and kept rising.
Back to this morning, gaming channel FGTeev pledged a whopping $510,000. However, as the final seconds of the "Battle of the Brands" passed, new bids came in, nearly doubling the bid.
Streamers Ninja and MrBeast, along with G2 Esports and Aim Lab, joined forces to bring the total bid to $1 million. The contest ended; according to Mediatonic, four costumes will be added to Fall Guys to commemorate the winning bidder's collaboration.
This is a great result and a huge donation. Even cooler, don't you think, is that some or all of the non-winning bidders are still donating to Special Effects? Just because you can't get a "Fall Guys" skin doesn't mean you can't donate. And Fall Guys, which has sold 7 million copies on Steam, can also donate an amount equal to the high bid. That's pretty cool too!
If you're interested in helping Special Effect, there are several ways to do so. Learn more about the charity here. Also, don't forget that they are giving away a free wireless headset every month to support their good work.
