Fortnite's New "Panther on the Prowl" Statue Draws Tributes to Chadwick Boseman

This season of Fortnite is all about Marvel, with a wide variety of superhero skins, cosmetics, and collectibles available to players. New Marvel-themed locations and landmarks have also been added to the map, most recently the Panther's Prowl, a giant statue dedicated to Black Panther.

Located not far west of Misty Meadows, the statue's appearance came just days after Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman died of colon cancer on August 28 at age 43. Despite the timing, Epic told Kotaku that the addition had been planned for some time and was not made in response to Boseman's passing.

"Like people around the world, we were greatly saddened to hear of the passing of actor Chadwick Boseman," a representative said." The Black Panther monument arrived this morning as part of a previously planned storyline for the new season 2, season 4."

Despite this, as discovered by Eurogamer, Fortnite players have been using the statue to pay tribute to Bozeman, sharing images and clips of the location on Twitter and Reddit. Some have also called for the proceeds from the sale of black panther skins for Fortnite to be donated to charity, as dataminer HypeX predicted last week. (HypeX also predicted the appearance of a statue of a panther roaming around.) That's a great idea.
